    7.3L international in a deuce?

the cummins is still sitting up on the pallet racking and the truck is parked in the corner of the lot LOL Been super busy with work, no time for this little side project. Any spare time i have had lately has been used up out at the cabin! I still havent bothered to find a trans to drop...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

Also looks like i may have gotten real lucky too... Looks like ive got a line of an engine geartrain mounted air compressor and hyd pump. With any luck, the hyd pump might be big enough to run the 20t winch i have sitting here that i want to mount in the truck. Ive also been eyeballing a few...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

Keep in mind that gears and speed is not everything. If i were to go with stupid low gearing like the 303M (15.x:1 low range) the torque to the transfer case and axles would be just downright stupid (roughly 87,000lb-ft at the axleshafts) Low wheel speed or not, the slightest bind of a wheel...

    insane LOL

    7.3L international in a deuce?

Like i have already mentioned, the torque to the driveline will be very similar with the 6B and 47RH trans (in first gear) as it would with the 302 and 303m trans (in low range 1st) The biggest difference is that while the max torque output to the driveline will be similar, the 6B/47RH will be...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

Been working 14-18hr days lately so personal time is pretty short (but the money is great!) Im not going to jump the gun quite yet on this 6B, i want to tear down the bottom end for inspection before i get too carried away. If all is good, i will be ordering up the parts for it probably early...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

im just sick of the typical forum attitudes, everyone trying to cause arguments, puffing up their chest and trying to prove everyone wrong about the stupidest little things. Once again, i was looking for information regarding the torque rating of the axles and information regarding the power...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

its not a 1st gen dodge engine. its a 2005 industrial engine CPL 8306 Got the engine disassembled yesterday. hours are very low, everything is like new other than the fact that it was idled too long in the cold and got cylinder wash. Pretty easy and cheap fix. See below for engine details...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

Having trouble locating any kind of information on the axles and the torque output of the 302???!?!?! Curious to know what the torque rating is on them... trying to get a ballpark range of torque i can throw through the axles before things start to snap. I already have quite a bit of evidence...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

Yes the Tcase seems pretty beefy, the driveshafts are marginal, but the axles are the weak point. I have a whole pile of twisted off axleshafts in the back of my parts truck, they were all twisted off by the good ol GMC 302!!

    7.3L international in a deuce?

Scored a 6B for free today... Its a VE pumped engine. nothing spectacular, 150hp @ 2200rpm Capable of more power than i would like to put through the stock t-case and driveline, so i will keep the modifications simple (3200rpm gov spring and a little more fuel, just something to get around...

is wheter or not the POS could actually get ~10mpg all around in a deuce...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

10mpg all around is better than 10mpg on the highway and 10 gallons per mile offroad!

    7.3L international in a deuce?

Its got its original 46.75 gal tank Not nearly enough gas to actually go out anywhere and do anything! The place we went out to last weekend was only a couple of km out of town, a little bit of dinking around only covering a couple of km in the sand pits and on the trails and neither one of...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

yep, the 302 The guy that gave me the trucks, has quite a few of his own that he regularly drives. He even told me straight up that the best he can ever get out of them is 10mpg on the highway with one of the rear driveshafts pulled! And i truly believe it... We went out playing around a...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

Its already a dog, a dog with one leg LOL I really couldnt care less about the power, just looking for something that doesnt just pour fuel through it! Now, one thing i have been wondering, has anyone got a proper HP/tq rating for these. I know the manual shows ~40hp, but that is only by...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

The issue with the fuel system on the 7.3 IDI is not that it gums up. Its the typical traits of a rotary pump and all injectors. rotary pumps have a failry short lifespan in which they operate efficiently. The head/rotor wear out pretty fast, and with it goes your power an economy, until one day...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

NV4500s require a GL4 (castrol syntorque or amsoil MTG) oil to be compatable with their carbon fiber syncros. they will not grenade from the use of a GL5 oil, you will jut destroy the syncros in a hurry. Im sorry, but the Nv4500, although a good tranny, is far from bulletproof, especially...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

    1) i am not going to spend the required $3k+ to make a 47rh 'reliable' behind a cummins 2) i have blown up a few myself, behind stock and modified engines and have seen MANY others spill their guts. The biggest downfall of the 4500 is the fact that you can pour $4k+ into it and still blow it...

    7.3L international in a deuce?

I would like to go with a slushbox, not sure what yet. 47RH would obviously be easiest as i can swap all of the dodge parts onto it (flexplate/housing), but i would like to go with something a little more heavier. Worst comes to worst, maybe just go with the 47RH and a 205 tcase (so i still...
