Algae oil grown in continous photobioreactor.

Well I just bit the bullet and ordered a gear pump since I was only saving $50 by finding the right motor and then fitting the correct gear pump head to it.. I will use my chevy oil pump hooked up to my Mutt starter motor for a collection pump. The gear pump/cetrifuge will now filter the...

Algae oil grown in continous photobioreactor.

Haha!!!!! That's funny man. Safety glasses and Cup in hand I guess? Yeah I'm kinda the same way I just lucky, sometimes... Thanks for the pics! I see now how the tanks are so large from what you said earlier. They use a whole shed, very cool. Speaking of wiring, I need a source for some...

Algae oil grown in continous photobioreactor.

 pure champion stuff young! Look forward to some pics. I am currently inundated with some deuce IP issues, 12v Elec setup and a small oil leak on the M1009 seemingly from the oil pan gasket.. Fml.. But all doable fixes and cheap, just time.. What is your projected yield in gallons of oil...

Algae oil grown in continous photobioreactor.

Man, sounds like a serious mess you had there. It will be worth it though. Talking about the paddlewheel vs pump situation, your algae strain is up to the pressures of being pumped? I think we talked about the idea of using diafram pumps vs impeller pumps etc.. I know the diaframs are a little...

Algae oil grown in continous photobioreactor.

How did it go man? Did you fix your leak? I have my tank placed on a footing and have a small pump that I will use. Like you said depending on the strain my flowrate may need to be lower than some high gph pump. I'm almost wondering about some kind of enclosed/covered raceway that the water can...

Algae oil grown in continous photobioreactor.

I definitely second young on the WVO biodiesel processor. Can be done pretty cheap and still well built with great results.

Maybe some MW3 or some Black-Ops? You just let me know.. hehe[thumbzup]

Young - Was that "Pro-Tip" from that Guy-Code show? That is some funny azz $hit!!!

Algae oil grown in continous photobioreactor.

HAha!!! Sounds like one of my projects! I am piecing together my algae system. I'll PM you my list so far to see what you think plus which algae strain I'm looking at.

Algae oil grown in continous photobioreactor.

I'm working on my grower as well, maybe with a little help from young, so stay tuned.. Young - I was thinking about using the centrifuge like I do when I heat and clean the WVO I collect. The WVO Centrifuge will filter your oil to below .5 microns. WVO centrifuges will filter a | OIL...

Algae oil grown in continous photobioreactor.

Orren - that's a good point you bring up. I was just about to ask young if he thinks a centrifuge similar to a dieselcraft one I use to dewater/clean the WVO I get would also work on harvesting the oil from the algae.

Algae oil grown in continous photobioreactor.

I actually worked on an SCR duct at Plant Bowen during the summer in Cartersville, GA while in college for some cash. These monsterous multi-million $$ canuter-valves/cats clean the gas leaving the coal plants.. Like you said you pipe in the exhaust "food" into an on site bio plant and boom...

Algae oil grown in continous photobioreactor.

Word! I may have to email you at some point but right now im starting with a 300gal tank and then scale up once it's down. That idea you have for the truck based system is golden. I'd love to see that! It would benefit everybody while putting maj coing in your bank.

Algae oil grown in continous photobioreactor.

50 gals a year.. If you have that kinda land and time then for it. That goes for the bs feedstock biodiesel as well. Systems we are talking about produce all the time at a lower cost and don't compete with food. These systems can also be used by the little guys or even small co-ops using larger...

Algae oil grown in continous photobioreactor.

Yeah, no I totally agree. If you look at their choices from a logical standpoint they are clueless. From sucking up acreage for corn to burn (instead of eat) being hydroscopic as all get out, ps: boaters thank you US gov't so much for that... as it phase seperates and absorbs water in our...

Algae oil grown in continous photobioreactor.

You're awesome bro! Glad we are chatting about this. I am big on the algae, I just wanted to use the wvo to get a little stock pile of cheap fuel for my trucks. The veg oil in my mind is stupid as a fuel source in terms of large scale when you compare food crops acre/yields vs algae yields...

Algae oil grown in continous photobioreactor.

Ha, I'll check that out then. I will have my full scale biodiesel processor constructed in a week or so, tracking down a used water heater now. Got the pumps, fittings, plans, etc.. Have a few 300gal totes and picking up some 55gal barrels tommorow. Def going to soak up as much WVO as i can...

Algae oil grown in continous photobioreactor.

Awesome. Definitely want to colaborate on this. I'd love to at least have the right strain and start a small system that I can just scale up.

Algae oil grown in continous photobioreactor.

Glad to see you guys on this thread! I would still like to have a system sized so that I can grow enough continously to not worry about getting 100% of the oil out. If enough oil is strained out and your reintroduce the pressed algae back into the PBR to absorb more Co2 and regrow. Still need...
