modern dual circuit air over hydraulic brakes

Glad you didn't get hurt or hurt anyone else! I hope to see your project get moving again soon.

modern dual circuit air over hydraulic brakes

Curious to see if there has been any forward movement on this. Also found a thread where a guy mounted his hydra max behind the crossmember to keep the original pedal assembly, thought I would share https://steelsoldiers.com/threads/hydro-max-brake-assist-pics-added-long-read.16065/

modern dual circuit air over hydraulic brakes

Do you know of a 9/16-18 tube nut that accommodates a 5/16" OD tube bubble flare? All I'm seeing is 3/16" tube when searching.

modern dual circuit air over hydraulic brakes

Yes I am too. Problem is, the master cylinder I received does not have a flare insert. Therefore, I need brass adapters to connect the brake lines to the master cylinder. You may want to check yours to make sure it has the flare inserts.

@patracy have you looked for any of the master cylinder adapter fittings? Only one I could find so far that fits is the 1/2-20 straight to 1/2-20 inverted flare adapter for the front port. Edelmann #265500. Having no luck finding a fitting for the 9/16-18 rear port.

Thats good and interesting info, thank you

modern dual circuit air over hydraulic brakes

Thats what I am trying to do. The problem is the dual port mc that is needed is too long to fit in the original location, so a custom bracket is needed. The air force and A3 deuces have a bracket that can work but those are very difficult to find. I'm going to try modifying the bracket to make...

modern dual circuit air over hydraulic brakes

It happens! You just need to choose the best route for you. I bought an extra rebuilt air pack a few months ago just in case the one I rebuilt didn't work, so I already had it which put me in the direction of the dual air packs. Finding that cheap mc sealed the deal for me. I also just purchased...

modern dual circuit air over hydraulic brakes

I think so and I would like that type of fail safe on my truck. Been busy with front knuckle repack and boot replacement so I will try to work on the combo valve part number search later this week.

modern dual circuit air over hydraulic brakes

So the main brake line coming off the single circuit mc is 5/16" and uses 1/2-20 fittings. Looking at the pictures below the lines off the dual mc are 1/4" and use 7/16-24 fittings. If we use mc adapters that adapt to 1/2-20 inverted flare fittings, we wouldn't have to change the adapters on the...

modern dual circuit air over hydraulic brakes

Post #193 where a guy modded his A2 bracket to fit the dual circuit mc: https://steelsoldiers.com/threads/dual-circuit-brake-engineering-thread.73346/page-10#post-2138751 Hoping to go this route, to keep the original look of the brake pedal. Also ordered Dorman #42041 mc cap, should be here...

modern dual circuit air over hydraulic brakes

Good ideas. The rubber boot under the cap still seals well. Dorman responded to me saying they don't sell the cap separately but if I return the assembly I'll lose out on the good deal. I may also rig up some hose clamps to wrap around it for the short term, bigger issue for me will be modifying...

modern dual circuit air over hydraulic brakes

Got mine with a broken cap. Since its a closeout and they don't have any more I would have to return it, doesn't look like there is any other option on rock auto. Hoping I can pick up a cap from the local parts store. The reservoir is metal so shouldn't be an issue running some lines to it and...

modern dual circuit air over hydraulic brakes

Mines at home waiting for me to get off work. Did you order the same part # I did?
  15. banditt1979

modern dual circuit air over hydraulic brakes

yes that is what I will need next. I found a complete mc with that plate but it was $845 or so.

modern dual circuit air over hydraulic brakes

Good deal. Thinking about it more I like your idea too. I may have to see how yours turns out!

modern dual circuit air over hydraulic brakes

My plan is to either modify the existing mc mount or fab a new one with steel angles and tubing for the clutch linkage.
  18. banditt1979

modern dual circuit air over hydraulic brakes

As I understand it this plate is needed to do a remote reservoir and in doing so, eliminate the need for residual valves plus better fording capabilities. But I also think that lines could be attached to the reservoir mounted on the mc, and add the remote reservoir. That could be the workaround...

modern dual circuit air over hydraulic brakes

The plate that attaches to the top of the master cylinder main body. Guess thats the unobtainium part. Eastern Surplus has a "call for price" for their mc with plate, same as the remote reservoir.

Searching the web I'm coming up with nada on the remote mount plate for the dual mc. Anyone else have anything to go on?
