The beast died after hitting a bump!!

Pcb is a protection against reverse polarity and volatge spikes in the system. Basically its deemed easier and or better to replace the box than the alt or starter. Theres several threads on this site about its purpose and even a break down of its workings...

The beast died after hitting a bump!!

Lol. OOOOOOPPPPSSS....That is not what i was expecting when you said battery disconnect switch. Perhaps i am alone on this but to me a battery disconnect and the main power are different things entirely. I was picturing in my head an after market type kill switch. My apologies. You can jump it...

The beast died after hitting a bump!!

Yeah thats the thing on these old trucks you have to be ready to learn and listen. There is no magic answer any of us can give that will make the truck start to run. There is an issue i assure you it is an easy fix and would take very little time to diagnose if the system is gone through in...

The beast died after hitting a bump!!

Once again i guess i dont follow your method of elimination at all. Why not just jump around the switch and bam it either works or doesnt and you KNOW it is either that or not.

Yep. Why not just jump around the kill switch? Wouldnt you sleep better at night if this was solved? Im someone who freaks out and will not sleep till i at least have diagnosed something.

The beast died after hitting a bump!!

Trust me... Drop the too many amp thing. Thats not the case. We run d8's just fine in our truck and 3 others one being an 816 with nhc250. Gear reduction starter is a great idea. I have one sitting here in the garage. Issue is the factory wont die, so starters are very tough but they do go...

The beast died after hitting a bump!!

Too many amps is rediculous..... How have you not replaced the battery cut off yet? I thought you suspected that being bad back toward the begining of the thread. Its easy to replace and cheap. Or just bypass and jump around it to see if that fixes it. When something goes wrong always...

If you are doing the water pump belt. Maybe plan on doing the water pump and seal also.

The beast died after hitting a bump!!

My only reason for harping on the batteries is the fuel shut off. If it lost voltage it will not run. So i would get your voltage tested. I run twin 8d batteries and it work amazing, spins the motor fast and plenty of juice for my accessories. There is a manual fuel screw on the solenoid that...

Overall voltage of the system. Im impressed with a d8 and a small civy battery mix match. Im gonna say your batteries are an issue.

The beast died after hitting a bump!!

I would just do a simple tension check on the belts, just push on the belts near center between the two pulley and see how much it deflects. (Engine not running of course). TM I believe lists the accepted deflection numbers. As for the alt i would check it by hand also by looking at shaft...

Why do u need it running to check the belts?

The beast died after hitting a bump!!

they can run with absolutely no power from batteries. Just turn the screw on the shut off solenoid.
