Is there another relay that is the same as the horn relay, so I can swap it and try it out?

my next question is how do i get the horn switch out? take the wheel off?

mine had a little bit of slack, enough that i could turn the relay and snip the wires.

I was able to get to it from the bottom with some little wire snips

ok put in my LMC HD headlight harness, deleted my horn suppressor but the horn still doesnt work. didnt get to the diode yet.

well i got my relay harness upgrade from a buddy of mine, traded him a 6 pack for it 8-). will install it this weekend hopefully

awesome. i will definitely bypass both the diode and suppressor this weekend, there is no use for them anymore. Dumb question, can i remove my grille to get to the horn with the brush guard still on? i forget

Alright Doghead, I just got back from my 400mi trip and everything went great. Had the headlights on all the way back in the snow/rain for 3 hrs and no fuse melting!

ok well ill be taking her on a 400 round trip this weekend down to Baltimore and back so i will see how it goes and report back.

well your theory worked. took the horn fuse out and no more melting! does this mean there is something wrong in the horn circuit?

Horn does not work and the fuse for it is in the fuse panel. You want me to remove the horn fuse and try the lights?

i probably will do the relay mod, since i can get the LMC one from a buddy for free. but wanted to be able to fix it before that so i can drive with my lights on for more than 5 mins. seeing as i wont be able to get the relay kit for a week or so.

i did search before posting and from what i found is this sort of thing usually stems from poor/loose contact with the fuse. i did mess around with the prongs on the fuse block side to try and make them hold the fuse tighter because they were loose, but it didnt help. Is there anyway to replace...

no they are not HF fuses, i have used multiple brands of fuses with the same result. There has to be a way to fix it without going to the LMC relay mod. It worked in stock form for 28 years
