    Yes, the only ground for the dash panel is via the locking screws. An O-ring should not do bad things because you would still use the factory locking screws, but if you have ground issues after, you may want to run a ground wire.

    The hard start and pulsing idle are classic for air in the fuel system. When the engine is under load and the ip moves massive amounts of fuel it runs fine. When it sits....psssssss....air seeps in. But judging by the above picture, you already have a hot lead! What sometimes helps to confirm...

    Are you planning to adjust the valves (there is a helpful drawing on this site so you only have to spin the engine twice), adjust the fuel and then check again re smoke? I also found that I could not hear the turbo well. Is it spinning?

    It's a diesel and they need fuel, air and compression to run. That's it. - you have fuel to the injectors. Good. Does the hydraulic head at the injection pump deliver fuel at the required pressure to the injectors and do the injectors actually open when they should? We don't know. The right way...
