That's allot of miles! You have the life I always wanted chasing them big Wapiti all over the country! Careful what you say I might just come visit and try to get a ride in that fancy M37 6x6 while I am at it...and shoot a Elk too!
I have several of these trucks and one runs ok I think this one...
I have several CUCV's and they all run very well.. I think I will just put the utility box on one of the M1028's and then put a M101box on this truck and call it good. The truck only has 11k for miles on it though. The motor has a new carb, new distributor, new plugs and wires, oil change,new...
The 6.2 has a pretty good torc curve and this would be a pretty simple swap if the adapter plate was still readily available and affordable. But its not, so next in line would be A complete driveline swap..This would work but then just use a chevy truck and have a better front axle,power...
They can rant and rave who cares.. Its about what works.. they all make junk and they all make some good stuff. "Function before fashion" for me all the way.. If they start bad mouthing it I will sick the mods on em! :) sick em dog! sick em!
Post the pics on this thread would ya? I must have missed this build..
Did you document it through Steel Soldiers?
Sounds interesting and I like your idea and input.:jumpin:
The 360 was on the table but the plate was empty.. I can't seem to find one of them in good working order in these parts?? I really would like to delete the spark plugs but it's so much hassle in this particular application. All the upgrades you mention would cost me more than 3 - 6.2's.. I am...
I have a 4 BT that I am saving for a M56B1 project but it might just end up in this truck.. They are just so hard for me to get and not that cheap anymore.. Thats why I started down the 6.2 road because I have some nice ones but the direction is still undetermined.
Some excelent info brought to...
Here is the wrecker motor I mentioned earlier.. I took the best pictures I could it's kind of hard to get at in that old bugger. I did grab the fan and it rocked back and forth so its not froze up. The trans is a straight 5 not overdrive with a split axle.
I crawled under it and swear the block...
Ahhhhh I have awoken the Mopar gods! YES! I have a 60's Dodge wrecker real close to me with a 440 and 5 speed in it.. I will see about the crankshaft bolt pattern maybe he will do that for me..Do you need measurements or will a picture do? So the manifolds off that 440 will probably work? If I...
Nothing personal Sarge.. Your not dumb.. It just gets exhausting to weed through stuff sometimes when you need answers.. But one good thing about SS is you eventually get what you need.. Your definately right about clinto and I wish the chat was back up and running. What's the deal with that...
Yes I think the site is great.. I just long for the old days from time to time when we could talk freely and the group was small enough you knew everyone and who was full of crap and who was not.. "But that's all I got to say about thattttt.."
So now back to this motor for a M887 swap.. Come on...
I could tell you but would have to kill you.. A friend of a friend has it.. 361 Chrysler our out of a APC if I had to guess.. Supposedly rebuilt. All waterproof military application.. I will need new manifolds, switch the oil pan around, and the usual stuff but it should have no trouble pushing...
I might have solved my problem..I will need to change some stuff but should be able to make it work. **** maybe even a NV4500?? But also wonder why I even subject myself to the doo doo that can flow out of this site these days. Again if I was going to replace the entire driveline I would just...
Well I am not interested in putting money into the 318 but agree those are some good upgrades for it. The original drivetrain only has 11k miles on it so thats another reason for wanting to just leave the trans and T case alone. The adapter is a bit pricey but still about the same as a NP208 and...
First off the 6BT is a great engine.. What I was saying is it would be a WASTE to put one in THIS truck. The truck is a 1977 and Dodge made some major changes to put the 6BT in there trucks. And furthermore I am not saying the 6.2 is the greatest diesel in the world! I am saying it has more...
