yup..... there was a time when take out MRAP 3rds; already with the higher ratio R&P, were not that expensive and even with shipping it was cheaper to swap in a whole MRAP takeout...... even when calculating labor. But that is not the case anymore. R&P swap is way to go now.

would be awesome if they fit .... yes locker .... but likely no does not fit. They appear to be from "axle tech 4000" version of axle https://westerncanadianrockwell.ca/products/axletech-4000-front-and-rear-axles

Considered that route but figured it was worth doing as everyone else does cause could set the hub spacing and know it is good...... that and had heard puting King Pins back in is no easy task. guess we will soon see

Logical question(s). Appears you have a 3116... is that correct? I ask cause in my 3116 with same gears as you and I can't even reach 64mph.... 59 MAX is it with tires at 85ish PSI and 225hp are you tuned up to 290hp or still have the 225hp?

Will see how it goes...... at this moment in time am sorta with you but for slightly different reasons..... Will not really be doing any towing much; yet I want some offroad grunt to remain even though it will have a camper on back. Upping the ratio a tad also by going 49" tires, and then...

I believe he convinced Meritor to make a batch.... or he bought a rusty one like Steve Showed and then sent the gears off to a known gear making corp. to make a 100 sets. Aka..... they are not out of anything..... they are brand spanking new. I suspect he wants to do the build in each third...

surprised it took almost three days before that info made its way over to here.

    FMTV High Speed Gears

MTP sounds like a fair deal. By time you ship twice each pig its about same cost as the ones that just came available. As to different gears... as the 3.07 sources are drying up...... and that pushes folk into getting ones made..... might as well make ones more ideal. as to why not 3.07...

    FMTV High Speed Gears

made gearsets would be for a ratio determined to be better than the 3.07 which are better than the OEM but not really very close to ideal (so the math says according to previous threads in here). Also for some..... the cost of driving to MTP, and in particular the loss of wages during that time...

Yes the third can be disassembled and new R&P installed. Note.. there is a difference in part #'s noted in here somewhere for the Power Divider's R&P. Don't recall of top of my head if it was the ring or pinion that is different

not sure it is in classifieds here but a few 6x6 3.07 power divider/third member are available from someone else too.

lol...... with ya on that..... High Speed gear is very much an Oxymoron for that gear set.

    FMTV High Speed Gears

??? not sure that has been asked. What do you mean by swapped? as in can they be removed and replaced with in the chunk? Or do you mean they can be swapped between front and rear axle chunks?

    FMTV High Speed Gears

as has been stated by others.... don't go by some single rating.... go by the detailed rating put out by manufacture. Detail rating is based on air pressure and weight on axle. AKA-- speed rating varies based on those two variables.

take back routes. Even with high speed gears.. to keep engine at a its best rpm range you wont be much out of 55mph But.... it is not like they will run you over on the Interstate. 55mph is probably MINIMAL legal speed on Interstate and honestly IMHO it is safer to go (in correct lane)...
