Poured the first batch of fuel into the tank this morning. I'm testing the fuel system and the pump has been running for 45 minutes as I'm typing this. Only a couple of minor leaks (compression fittings) and the filters bled nicely. 8 gallons of diesel and 3/4 qt of canola oil. One image shows...

As I go along working on the 757, I like to point out design differences (improvements) and found another today. The instrument panel is installed on rubber shock mounts and there is a dedicated ground wire for the instruments.

I have a supplier of the rattle cans, Attackopgear.com also in CA. Thing is they have a fixed $4.95 shipping charge on any of their products, not bad for a six-pack across the country via UPS Ground. :-) Opie has tried to get some gallon cans locally, but the shipping and hazmat charges are...

The platform/loading area behind the cab is all aluminum except for the bolted-on mounting brackets. No wonder these trucks get scrapped, several hundred bucks worth of aluminum in this piece alone. Rust on this vehicle is almost non-existent. One reason I'm posting all this about the...

The CDL requirement starts at 26,001 lb, I don't need one to drive it empty, at least that's my understanding. Yeah, the horsepower to weight ratio is very good, better than most MV's. From the pershingmissile forum: "..... A M54 Tractor Truck was used to pull an EL on a field exercise with D...

I try to be responsive. :-) PS. Welcome to the steelsoldiers! Please, enter your location in the profile.

According to the dash 10, it's 41 ft 4 in. The M52 has a turning radius of 38 ft 9 in The M813 about the same at 40 ft 7 in.

You know I do, Joel. :-) Thanks Adam! PS. I never liked that image, because it doesn't look like its moving. I do have a video (Vintage Video) showing it moving in the water with a full load and that's about the right waterline. The cab cover should be off and the driver should have a...

Don't know. Truck was designed/built by Ford Motor Co. Only about 500 built and all in the late sixties. It's not a cab over in the normal sense, the cab does not tilt. Engine access is as shown here and the cab is waterproof, all aluminum, welded, riveted and/or glued with waterproof...

Let me know if you are getting tired of these posts...anyway, checked the toe-in and tracking of the four front wheels/axles and it all checks out within the 1/8 inch of measurement error at this time. Perhaps the good results have something to do with the fact that the vehicle came from a...

Posted one of the above images of the 757 on the pershingmissile forum and one of the responses was: "wow !!! This pic of the 757 sure takes me back to Gmuend and 71-73. I wasn't in Germany a week before I walked into an open door of a 757 and got cold cocked. (Before another week went by a...

Reason #1: The designers never intended them to be mounted on the bumper. The pods on the bumper was a later mod and probably because of the low original location causing a dark area just forward of the bumper when the winch was installed. A couple of extra lights below the bumper can cure that...

The light is not so good with the truck parked facing Northwest, but here you go.

Mounted (temporarily) two of the front tires this morning so that I could check the toe-in. For a 5-ton, the tires are suprisingly easy to handle, even for one person. Used the "shovel method" to lift them in place.

Worked a little on the front axles today. Removed a shock that had been dented and acted as a solid strut and aligned the axles. The torn torque rod was replaced a couple of days ago and all steering knuckle boots were removed yesterday, all torn, I'm just waiting for more Aervoe paint, which...

I'm getting closer. Need to finish the fuel system, including mounting the non standard tank(s) and aligning the front axles. I'm replacing one of the front torque rods too, which had been torn up, possibly shifting the axle a hair.

A demonstartion of how light weight the construction is on this vehicle. Needed to remove the windshield stowage compartment for access to fuel lines. The whole thing probably doesn't weigh more than 35 lb.

Re: m757 I can get originals, but they would only be good for short trips, any long trip would require newer alternate tires. BTW, Adam I owe you a response to that biodiesel question, I haven't forgotten. The oilpan gasket for the deuce should be here tomorrow, so any time after it arrives...

The airhorn came later as did the bumper mounted light clusters. I put the lights back where they were designed to be, never liked the idea of bumper mounted lights. :-) Okay, so the bumper creates an un-illuminated area right in front or the truck, the lights really should have been mounted a...
