Make sure the can is vented so that water doesn't accumulate from humid air getting past the "seals".

Removed the starter from the engine this afternoon...here are the images. The pinion is very worn and has 12 teeth. MS53011-1 has 11 teeth MS53011-2 has 12 teeth MS53011-4 has 13 teeth
