Test fitted the 5th wheel assy on the 8x8 today. Looks like it will go on easily, just need to dimension some spacers correctly. The 5th wheel came from an M52A2.
Here is a pic of the platform, which can be seen in the previous post as well.
Kenny calls it a "porch", don't know what is the correct name, but the xm757 manuals refer to it as a "dromedary platform" (like the camel).

If you are installing the 5th wheel "from scratch", you may want to follow the example set by Ford on the 8x8, using brackets to avoid drilling the flange of the frame. The 5th wheel assembly is identical on the 2-1/2, 5-ton and this xm757 8x8, btw, same NSN.
