    The model number is an indication of the lifting capacity one meter from the pedestal on the old HIABs. 550 would be 5.5 metric tons or 12,100 lb at 1 meter or 6050 lb at 2 meters (about 6 ft). Joel's crane was a 950 (20,900 lb at 1 meter) and my model 765, 16,830 lb one meter out.

    This is not a HIAB, but similar in size to what you describe. Try CARGOTEC in Swanton OH for help on HIAB cranes.

    Good size crane Gimp, the older models are not easy to find spec for, my '75 HIAB is a 765A model and I can only find info on similar models, like 780AW. Look for the model # on the crane pedestal. The tags will give a lot of info also. Another self contained unit, that's great...
