    Here is the 550-3 mounted on a Unimog. According to the owner: Max hat recht, es ist ein HIAB 550-3, Bj. mitte 70er Jahre Technische Daten: Bei Ausladung 1,7m, Hub 3250 kg 2,5m, Hub 2200kg 3,4m, Hub 1620kg 5,0m, Hub 1100kg. Habe ich bei mir auf einem U403 montiert. It's in German...

    Thanks for the info, Steamy. Well, mine is classified as an 8-ton crane and causes the truck to lean badly just swiveling it around when extended without a load. Then again yours is a 5-ton truck and that may make a difference. Anybody know how much a Sherman tank turret weighs?

    The HIAB looks like my 1975 Model 765, but I don't see the outriggers. The operating levers are also inverted. Yeah, I'd be curious about the crane stats too.

    RE: Who makes a Jacobs-type engine brake for the 250 Cummins The exhaust brake will not give you the "big truck" sound. It produces a intense hissing sound and is about half as effective as the Jacobs, low cost though. Other driveline retarders, electric or hydraulic are very effective but quiet.
