I think better puller with the pointed end and some decent bolts. Not sure.

You should haver a pointed puller to get that off. I never had any issues getting them off with a puller. That looks like it has been beat on at one time. No good. I have seen guys beat the shaft. Not sure where the issue is here. Have you used the correct puller? You are going to have to put...

Yea the guy that changed the dipstick grommet was the same guy that put the 3-bolt converter in.

That shifter seal is often over looked. I had the seal remover and the installer but haven't been able to find it. I was successful in using a pick to remove it and a deep socket to install it. Good Luck. I hope you changed the dipstick grommet.

Trash the hood and possibly the door. What does the inside bottom edge of the door look like? The rocker you should cut all that out and weld a replacement in there. Gluing over the rusty one will just add more aggressive rust. Rust never sleeps. NEVER. And so steel item is truly rustproofed...

The correct parts will fix almost every problem almost every time. Good Job. I knew it was the 3 bolts that had you messed up. I am sure it wobbled before, and the wobble is what chewed the teeth off.

Squibbly's M1009 and other Questionable Projects

Basically, it was a piece of 3/4" plywood with 4 sides that the transmission pan sat inside of. I would strap the transmission fast to it and place it on my floor jack and jack it up in place. Outside I used plywood on the ground and inside the cement floor to roll it back and forth. I just put...

I myself had Dogs all my life. Now I have Cats. I never want to go thru the loss of another furry Child. My best buddy fur baby in the world passed away and I fear of the next one could outlive me. The Dog would not know how to handle that and would think I abandon it. Cats??? Well, they don't...

Yea my plywood and board homemade holder complete with ratchet strap works great on my Snap-On floor jack. I feared asking the Snap-On man the cost of a transmission jack. and that was in 1990. Most times I was in the dirt and just pressed the transmission back up in place. I can't do that...

Squibbly's M1009 and other Questionable Projects

I have installed over 100 flex-plates on CUCV's. New used and questionable. I never set one down and checked if it was flat. I looked at the teeth and made sure I seen no stress cracks in the steel inner surface. The unevenness will go away once it is secured in place by the 6 crank shaft bolts...

Squibbly's M1009 and other Questionable Projects

After thinking this over I think the 3 bolt torque converters are shorter nuts welded in place. It would make sense because it would pull the flex plate down harder against the torte converter and cause the wobble. The 6 bolt torque converter would have nuts that are just a bit taller and seat...

Squibbly's M1009 and other Questionable Projects

I agree. If you have a 6 bolt flexplate you need a 6 bolt torque converter. I don't see how the 6 bolt flexplate would ever be seated properly on a 3 bolt torque converter. I wish you would have mentioned this earlier. I would say the starter is fine but I only ever seen 2 of them HD cast steel...

Squibbly's M1009 and other Questionable Projects

The new torque converter bolts have lock tight designed into the threads of the bolts. It is blue, yellow, or red. I use some blue lock tight if I am going to reuse the bolts again. Someone has put the incorrect torque converter in your M1009. I never encountered a diesel with a 3 bolt...

Squibbly's M1009 and other Questionable Projects

I know every bolt has a torque tightness. But who really torques every bolt? I torque head bolts, fly wheel, and intake bolts and other important bolts. But most other bolts I tighten. After many years I know tight from loose or over tight. Anyone torquing every bolt is spending more time than I...

Squibbly's M1009 and other Questionable Projects

I would use them all over. Like I said if you torque the bolts and they are good to go. Some blue locktite on the flex-plate to torque converters will do the trick. Good Luck. Get them done.

Yes I use 4" bplts. Mine are grade 8 and I have used them that many times the gold is worn off of them. Good Luck.

Squibbly's M1009 and other Questionable Projects

Put lock tight on the torque converter bolts and reuse them. I have new ones but have used thousands of them over. They are NOT torque to yield stretch bolts. I have in the past sent transmissions out for rebuilding and they were returned with SAE thread in the torque converter or vise versa. I...
