    Agree with above. A bad battery can put a bad load on the charging system and cause problems. Also, if you use two 12V batteries they need to be similar. Mating two different size and shape batteries can cause problems.

    If you are getting 42VAC then your stator is probably good. At rest you should get like 6 Ohms resistance (IIRC). It is possible to get AC voltage from the stator when not loaded and then have it crap out when it tries to drive a load. But, most times stators go bad by going open, meaning a...
