No paint on the shelter yet.... sigh..... I have so much on my list. Yes, the hemtt will be at the Arlington airshow in July, I will be there off and on. I don't have the patience to hang there the whole time, but the hemtt will be.

Yeah, I was kinda worried about that too at first, but it's only 13'6", so it clears everything around here. I talked with the truckers at work, any they drive tall "Empennage" trailers (whatever that means) and they said there isn't anything around that is lower then about 16' in this area...

HAH! I wish it were true.... I have toyed with the idea of a getting a British Chieftain one day, but there is NO WAY I could swing the bucks to have a HET and a tank.... Remember, I am but a lowly security guard.... I am very content with what I have....

Your Striker avatar looks exactly like the Striker 3000 ARFF that we use at Boeing. Each plant got two of them. Nice looking trucks.

It's one of those things where the moment I saw a picture of a hemtt years ago I knew that one day I had to find a way to get one. I really just fell in love with the look of these trucks. In fact the day I bought my first MV, a M35 deuce from a guy in San Francisco I even told him that my...

Not trying to be cocky, but I think I will get my money back out of it. These trucks aren't cheap when you can find them. I've been contacted by a couple people already about wanting to buy it. At this time it's not for sale. Now that the economy is in the tank, I may have to keep it...

Are you kidding? It's filthy right now! I am missing the front two mudflaps that go on the front fenders, and it is looking horrible. As soon as I get a chance I am going to get my pressure washer out and give it a bath. I will be painting the "man-cave" module asap. I still have a few...

Thanks Scott, I appreciate the kind words. Anytime you're up in my neck of the woods just let me know ahead of time and we'll take that ride. As for how much $$$.... It's a depressing thought. I bought it for $26,000 two years ago after selling my boat... Since then I have probably put...

Here's a couple pics of the com shelter on board. I lifted it off my car trailer and set it on the back of the hemtt with the crane. It handled it no problem, even boomed all the way out. It was a real easy lift. I still have to order some 1" threaded J-hooks from Mcmaster-Carr to bind...

Here''s a somewhat lousy picture of the additional tranmission fluid filter that we added to filter from the outlet side of the trans cooler.

updated pics of my hemtt restoration

Well, update time again.... It is all done transmission-wise and back home safely. I put 100 miles or so on it yesterday running errands like picking up dogfood at the Petco and my favorite brand of malt-liquor (sparks)... I have to admit, with this new tranny, this is the ultimate...

Size Large. (I actually don't know. The driveshaft shop replaced them for me, though)

updated pics of my hemtt restoration

Here's some pics from today - the transmission was in when I left the shop this afternoon, and tomorrow I will be getting some new hoses made to allow the use of the new Allison Required ATF cooler output filter. Allison requires a filter be added inline from the cooler to the trans return line...

I can't take all the credit. Another hemtt on the East coast did the same thing with his hemtt. It's a great idea, really. Plus it firmly moves my hemtt into the legal classification of RV in Washington state, and so no CDL is required (not that I pay much attention to that crap anyway....)...

updated pics of my hemtt restoration

Well, I made a trip down to my surplusser buddy and scored an excellent condition aluminum com shelter that will fit real nice into the back of my hemtt! The inside and outside are in very clean condition, just waiting for my imagination to remodel the inside and make it my RV module. I got...

When I get time I will look up the actual temperature tolerating ability of ATF vs. 15w-40. I'd like to see from the actual specs which oil is better equiped to handle the temps, and what those max temps are. Just out of curiousity.

Allison says the best fluid is Castrol Transynd (of course they do), but the next best option is DEX3 C-4 approved ATF. That's from Allison Factory Tech Support, and the Allison shop fixing mine. I know that stands apart from what the military TM says, but like I said before, that is...

updated pics of my hemtt restoration

 Okay, give me a week or two to get it back and you will see plenty! I am in the process of gathering up the additional trans fluid filter and new hose so we can get filtering on the cooler-out line, and the trans is being built right now. Should have some install action going...

updated pics of my hemtt restoration

Okay, update time.... The trans is out of the hemtt, and down at the Allison shop in Tacoma. They disassembled it and had some surprising things to say about this transmission... It is definitely not a hemtt tranny, or anything that came with a Detroit 8V92... It is from the mid 70's, has a...
