    I'd like to know what the guy with his hands and eyes on the truck thinks before I guess. Without any data, I'll suggest a bad(flat sided) tire. Let's focus on helping him through the issue, before we analyze the situation(since we have no data).

    You might even be able to use two cross-members, one forward and one behind the axle. Use the chain like a "V".

    Fwiw, you can probably chain it up to a frame cross-member too.

    How far do you need to go? Confirm, you have ctis. Are you flat towing or lift towing? You can block between the forward axle and the frame to keep the rear axle from touching the ground(since you can't chain it up).

    Why not just chain the axle up without the tires on that hub?
