    DOT 5 vs 5.1? What are you using?

    Mix a bit of your fluid with a bit of water in a small container. Stir it up and wait a few minutes. If it separates, you have silicone. If it stays mixed and cloudy, you have dot3 There are dozes of threads explaining this, and I think there is even a sticky.
