    Cab reinforcement plates are not that hard to come by. NOS ones are on Ebay occasionally and sometimes custom made ones. I have an extra NOS one I picked up for $50.00 a few years back, but plan to hang onto it.

    Ditto!! Even with the plate installed my cab will still flex some.

    The M49 is a complicated apparatus. Not something you can just easily machine. You need to look for a ring and poles - they aren't that hard to find.

    I live on a gravel / dirt road that is mostly large rocks and potholes. Everytime I drive down the 1/2 mile road, I can feel the cab flexing and screeching, even when I keep it down to 2 - 3 mph.

    Ditto! Even with the plate installed in the cab, there is a lot of flexing of the cab with that heavy ring up there. You will tear up your truck for sure if you don't have the plate installed.
