    Winch and Bumper Project

I would not be comfortable installing the cable in front of the reel. Still feel it would be in harms way. Suggestions: 1- Install a longer angle iron so it goes beyond the plastic housing. 2- If you run the angle longer (past the plastic housing) and point the connector up (like my friend...

My friend Allen put his plug pointing up. Since it has a cap it wont hurt.

Why don't you Flip the angle the other direction and have the connector behind the winch and pointing towards the drivers side. It will keep the cord of the remote from accidentally getting caught in the winch.

Yes they are 12 to 24 volts. They sell for $10 to $14 each. Can't beat the price. I have them on the 24 volt line. Tapped off the 24 volt bus on the firewall and inline fused. ye I got a bad sleep schedule right now. Need to get back to normal sleep time soon.

Have you tried any of the CIVI LED flood and spot lights available on AMAZON.COM. I have a bunch of the 27 watt spots and they are very bright! On my CUCV they are better than my OEM headlights. My friend Allen put those lights all around his M923 for the same reason you gave. Since they are...

    Winch and Bumper Project

It took a lot of time searching through all the listings on a well known auction site but I got a smokin good deal on a NOS Warn 36,000 lb snatch block. Waiting for it's arrival. rusty are you sure you got enough lights on the front of that truck? I count 12 lights in the picture. :roll:rofl

    Winch and Bumper Project

I put 4 group 31 batteries on the weight trays next to the winch to provide dedicated battery power to the winch. I have the front batteries isolated from the ones in the cab. I already used the front batteries to jump start the truck when my main batteries were weak. (glad I installed a NATO...

Shouldn't the control lever and wire housing be on top? (bottom is mounted to bumper plate)

    Winch and Bumper Project

That was not a complex project. Can't believe they messed up such an easy order. That piece could have been done at home with 2 pieces of angle and a flat sheet with the rectangle and holes cut and drilled. You should ask for a partial refund for the mess up. Installing the plate on the...

I'm sad to say my sons are the same way. But on the other hand it's good to be needed.

    Winch and Bumper Project

The weight of the winch is not an issue at all. It weighs less than the stock M35 winch would. I'd be more concerned with the weight of all those nuts and bolts and the additional bumper.

    Winch and Bumper Project

WOW nice job on the bumper and frame extension project. (got a bit carried away with the nuts and bolts there) The genuine military frame extensions only have the inner splice piece. (even the 5 tons) But more is better. If you got the 18,000 lb winch that goes on the MRAP you will be very...
