Thanks to everyone who voted for my M718, never thought I would have a chance when I first entered, makes me feel better about the long nights I spent restoring it. Want to give a shoutout to all the competitors that entered this month, very respectable competition, I would be proud to park any...

Thanks for the comments, guys, I would agree, great bunch of vehicles, I'm liking that M1030, would love to own any of them, that forklift is nice especially with all the extras, I could use that and the M62 wrecker around the house. Time to stick the engine in the jeep and start hooking things...

Time to move to the engine, when I started this restoration, the engine was running great, so I knew all my work was cosmetic. After cleaning, scraping, wire brush and sanding, she was ready for a fresh coat of paint, wanted the engine bay to match the rest of the jeep.

Time to put the 50+ year old canvas top on, always read that canvas would shrink over the years, that would be correct, it took some creative ideas and months to get the top and curtains to stretch back into position. Couldn't just grab it and pull on it, was scared I would tear seams and...

Staying motivated on the project was tough at times but having waited so long to get it started was a little motivation in itself. When we had friends over on the weekend, we would grab a cold beverage and head to the shop, they would always want to know how the jeep was progressing. Few more...

The time came for a new set of shoes, was dreading the cost, got lucky and found these on craigslist for $200 about 150 miles away, road trip. Got the rims cleaned up and painted, tires mounted, she was back on her feet.

Time to head outside for a paint job, 3 coats of red oxide primer and 3 coats of Gillespie 24087, this was sprayed with a $15 Harbor Freight HVLP spray gun, being a backyard painter, I didn't know the difference. Think I sprayed it at 16psi at the gun, turned out better than expected, unlike the...

Thought I had more pics of the paint removal(the fun part), I hate CARC paint:LOL:, took it down to bare metal, primed each section as scraped it to prevent flash rust. I have a rotisserie that I made, I can hook it to the 3 point hitch on my tractor to move it in and out of the shop for sanding...

Three items that took many years of searching, front folding seat, U shaped litter mount and the matching LH side curtain. It had the front folding seat in it when I bought it, but they had gorilla welded the hinges together.

So the teardown begins, rusty bolts, busted knuckles, cool beverages and a little swearing but if you put your mind to it, a one man show can accomplish more than expected and the blisters from the scraping hasn't even started. If you look close, the jeep came with a couple of nice M38 rims.

I have owned my ambulance for several years now, didn't want to start the project until I had all the original parts gathered up. That was 10 years in the making, after collecting most parts, I started this project 2 years ago. It was being used on a base as a runabout jeep, all the ambulance...
