    Deuce as a tow-rig? Am I crazy?

Larger exhaust should help turbo spool if nothing else. For a non-turbo engine, the solution for more power is a turbo. If equipped with a turbo and power is still insufficient, a bigger, better turbo can be substituted, in which case the freer exhaust to improve spool is greatly necessary to...

    Deuce as a tow-rig? Am I crazy?

Actually, I LOVE the deuce. I'd LOVE to be able to justify owning one (thought I made that clear, several times over), but I'm already up to my ears in projects and don't need more. I know that this is a deuce section, and therefore the responses will be pretty much pro-deuce (although not all...

    Deuce as a tow-rig? Am I crazy?

Yes. A deuce is a good vehicle for some, not for others. Yeesh. Is that what you wanted? And who the hell was saying for him to spend $35,000 on a truck? That's a REALLY good way to make sure that the comparison falls to the deuce. $8500 will buy a LOT of truck nowadays. So will $5000, or...

    Deuce as a tow-rig? Am I crazy?

Fine, but when I need something to work, I need something to work. I have no use for ANOTHER project vehicle that winds up diverting time from projects that I enjoy more. Let's just be clear- YOU asked a question about the cost of entry and how it compared. I answered it. In the future, don't...

    Deuce as a tow-rig? Am I crazy?

Yeah, if you're willing to pay the overnight rates, and sit around the next day waiting for the UPS/FedEx/mail guy, and you get the order in early in the day so that it makes it out in that day's shipments, then it's fine. Auto parts stores generally get the part in the next day, as long as you...

    Deuce as a tow-rig? Am I crazy?

Yeah, the gear lube and tires aren't that bad, but go driving somewhere, and lose a waterpump. Or an alternator, or a power steering pump, or fuel pump, or whatever. If it's a Ford/Chevy/Isuzu/Dodge, and running a Duramax, or PowerStroke, or Cummins, the part will be available at any auto parts...

    Deuce as a tow-rig? Am I crazy?

If you can find one locally that's in good shape (not only does everything work, but typical wear-out parts have been recently replaced) and has a good asking price, that's 90% of the battle, really. And, if you're using it infrequently for non-critical things, then I doubt it'd be a big deal...

    Deuce as a tow-rig? Am I crazy?

I'll chime in, since I was once considering using a deuce for towing cars to race tracks. Obviously race cars aren't that heavy and don't need much of a trailer or tow vehicle. I was planning to use the bed essentially as a shop as well. Seemed like a good idea. Then I looked into alternatives...
