Axle wrap with a bobbed deuce?

Looks good, but if you extend that piece of tubing further forward towards the front mount, you'll reduce the bending loads on the main tube and make that traction bar a lot stronger.

Axle wrap with a bobbed deuce?

Thanks for explaining, and I see what you're saying now. It's true that a traction bar like we're talking about will affect the pinion-angle, but I've never considered that a bad thing. Should actually do more to maintain a desirable pinion-angle as leafsprings tend to do weird things when...

Axle wrap with a bobbed deuce?

Not sure I'm following you here. Can you please elaborate? Are you saying that the shackle will make the traction bar less effective when it comes to controlling axle-wrap? Would seem that way, but that's the tricky thing about leafsprings. They don't move in a simple arc like solid links, so...

Axle wrap with a bobbed deuce?

...and tires flexing and let's not forget the way these frames twist too.

Axle wrap with a bobbed deuce?

Well see, that's the thing. Executed right, there's really not much compromise. Traction bars can reduce/eliminate axle-wrap without affecting the suspension much, if at all, in any negative way.

Axle wrap with a bobbed deuce?

Wasn't talking **** about your setup, and acknowledged that the springs might not have enough travel to make the bind apparent. But unless your geometry is perfect, then yeah, they're going to bind. Building traction-bars like yours is actually a lot more complicated than building the other type...

Axle wrap with a bobbed deuce?

Yup, that's the idea. Lots of companies make kits, but there's really not much to it. WFO Concepts is worth checking out. Would highly recommend staying away from Ballistic Fabrication though. Horrible company.

Axle wrap with a bobbed deuce?

Yup, that's a good way to do it. All comes down to execution though. Geometry. Specifically, the length/angle of the traction bar, as where the front is attached to the chassis is really important. Want to make sure that the arc the traction bar swings in complements the geometry of the...

Axle wrap with a bobbed deuce?

If you design/build them right, you won't ever want to remove them. Sure, traction-bars like mudguppy's are going to bind, but there are several ways to build traction-bars that won't. You really only need one, ideally located towards the center of the axle. Build something more like a...
