No, I was being mean. Pretty obvious if you want to improve performance you need to change things, A/F ratio included. If you had extra fuel before then add a turbo you might have to cut fuel back (like my deuce) to keep power and EGT under control. If you don't have extra fuel, like my 5T...

Be 6 years soon. Never had any problems.

I agree with Jwaller. The small oil line is a concern. Discharge oil tends to be whipped full of air, like top of a black cappuccino. The nat aspirated heads are the ones with the open ports though I'm not sure if that means all of them. They do get swapped sometimes. Pretty easy to tell if you...

I went down to #20. It added 4psi. EGT is low. Details are at end of my post #72. I'd like to go lower but 20psi seems like a lot w/o aftercooling. How are the head gaskets on these? Are they the same as the ones that make 400HP? Anyone know what a18psi relief valve might do to turbine speeds...

Below is something I found online (I can't remember where). May be of interest here. -----Original Message----- From: Powermaster@cummins.com [mailto:Powermaster@cummins.com] Sent: Tuesday, August 19, 2003 2:03 PM To: xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com Subject: Re: RQST00000169662 - NHC 250 engine manual...

I missed the Jacobs engine brake. It will not fit without some mods.

I'd leave the pipe and manifold uninsulated. You peak under hood air temp is 100+*F cooler than the intake charge at 15 psi. Big rigs that I used to drive never had insulation on either the intake or exhaust. Under hood air may be radiator warm but it is moving very fast. Cold by exhaust system...

I'll bet that thing fits. It will be interesting to see how much boost you have. The intercooler isn't even close to 100% efficient and the water is already 180. Unless you are at or above say 20-25psi it may do little towards cooling the charge. What I am seeing is low EGT and figure that even...

I'm no expert but I don't agree. Without manifold pressure there is much less exhaust flow so the turbine/compressor RPM is low. Maybe smoke and lower egt too? The CH model Macks I drove got variable nozzle turbos around 05'. I had a bunch of clamp band failures with different new trucks-...

This image in post #100 shows rubber hoses awfully close to the turbine housing. The iron housing will start to glow red at about 975*F(in daylight). Radiant energy can jump an air gap faster and more efficiently than convection currents. EGT can reach 1200*F and cause turbine housings to...

G-Force/everyone, Thanks for suggestions. I have a lot to learn, which I guess is the goal. The NAPA catalog showed aver 40 different models using the same rocker box gasket. Westech wrote, "Please for the love of God take that muffler off." Funny, that's what I said to myself when I was...

I agree. Also, thanks jwaller for thread and pioneering work. Here is some stuff I got from a truck repair shop across street from where I work. Manifold looks different than yours. Came out of a N14 powered twin screw commercial tractor. Donor engine's data plate was gone. Mechanic said rig ran...

J Waller, Do you have any pictures if the intake manifold and/or pipe to compressor??

From my hot rodding days I recall a section of straight, large diameter pipe beyond the turbo exhaust outlet is important as it allows the gasses to tumble and become disorderly, a helpful condition from the turbine's point of view. Also, as hot gasses move down the exhaust system they rapidy...
