Have you driven it much yet? Some guys on here were saying there is a steep learning curve to driving the HEMTT's I did not find that to be the case at all. It takes a little bit to get used to but so does any new vehicle you drive for the first time.

The TES389 stuff is much cheaper but needs to be changed more often. I figure its still way better than the crap uncle sam puts in them. And when they were originally built they allison called for DEXIII.

The hydraulic filter at the bottom of the chassis by the trans? That is the trans filter I think. Mine has a spin on hydraulic filter right at the reservoir.
Yours has a canister style oil filter? Do you have some pictures of it? I guess mine must have been converted to a standard filter?
There are 2 filters for the hydraulic system and screw on type and the canister type. Have you been able to location the canister element?

dk8019 - I didn't notice the air system draining any faster than my 5 ton did. With air brakes you can't pump them else you will drain the air very fast.
