You can also go to the Maryland State Police with a VIN verification form and ownership documents to prove ownership. The MSP will sign off thus allowing you to have the vehicle inspected. 17 digit Vin or not

The 17th digit Vin for the state inspection system is Hokie at best. Off subject I have a home built trailer with a Maryland assigned Vin which consists of MD is the first two characters and six additional characters after. Had to get the trailer inspected with no issues on the 17 digit Vin...
I'm looking at acquiring an M1088A1. I have some questions in regards to getting the truck inspected, titled and registered in Maryland. It is a 2001, so Historic tags will not be an option. Any help from fellow Marylanders would be greatly appreciated.
