UPDATE: Pulled the thermostat, replaced it and topped off the coolant. Took her for a 20 minute drive on the highway and it's good to go fat lady sings So far no major oil leaking either. I am going to try running her around on short local runs before I declare it a complete victory, but so...

I'm going to start with the thermostat and then work my way to the water pump. It's turning, but that doesn't mean it's pumping. Should have a chance to check it out tomorrow, will post an update.

Took a little video for you guys: She is still overheating and spraying oil everywhere. I'm going to wash down the engine with a power washer to get it somewhat clean again and try to figure out where the source is. There is a lot of oil coming around the air compressor in the front...

Commander5993, that's not a bad idea. What are the down sides to not having the thermostat in? I know people do that in warmer climates, but it's pretty darn cold here in the winter! If I let the thing idle or drive it lightly, I don't have temp issues. Only when I drove it on the highway...

Here's a pic after I made it back to the city. Parked her on the street. No one will mess with her, right? Haha

Thanks Everyone. I'm going to go with stuck thermostat. The radiator is cool, and the bottom hose back to the oil pan is cool too while the block in baking the engine. I'm going to get a new one and see how it works. They are like $25, easy enough to try. --- I am here...

So I got the title and tags today after the SF97 came! So excited I was, I figured why not drive it to Baltimore from Fort Meade? It's only 10pm and raining, what could go wrong? Haha Well after overheating, I pulled over to let it cool. Discovered I had too Much oil, drained a bit out. Thought...

Got tired of waiting for the SF97 so I decided to try registering without it, seeing as some of you have had luck with just the bill of sale. That was a huge no-go in the state of MD. Tried the MVA and a local "Tag and Title" place, and they both said they can't do it without the SF97, or...

Recovery day, 0900 hours. Quite an uneventuful pickup, but that's what I was hoping for! Gave them the paperwork then went up to the yard. A guy with a forklift moved a 5 ton out of the way like it was a Tonka toy truck, then gave me a push, she started right up! Drove it right off the lot...

OK, just got the PAID invoice today and made my appointment. I'm picking her up at 9:00am tomorrow morning (Thursday). The guy said he would give me a jump, but I am going to come prepared with two batteries and some tools just in case. All I have to do is drive it about a quarter mile on...

Worked on my last historic registration. I registered a 1989 Uhaul box truck as a historic F-350. The lady was looking at me and the papers a little funny, but I think she just wanted to get the heck out of there! haha :driver:

Yeah new top is probably in order. I'm going to see if it can be salvaged, but likely not. It did however have the canvas bows in the bed if I remember correctly.

The EUC status says up to 60 days, let the waiting begin. I'm probably going to schedule an appointment to go check it out again and make a list of parts I might need. Will bring a few batteries and a jumper box too and see if I can start it, let it run for a bit. I'll PM the Maryland people...

I'm not sure if you guys are familiar with Fort Meade at all, but they have this place called the Auto Skills Workshop, it's about two blocks from DRMO. You rent out a bay, they give you every tool under the sun to attack your vehicle with. Might be one of the coolest places I have ever been...
