That one was originally probably a gen set trailer as I see it had the filler neck on the passenger side for the belly fuel tank. Does it have lots of holes in the bed? Is the tank still underneath?
That is a m832/m833/m840 shelter dolly that breaks in 2 parts and each end connects to the shelter so it can be towed. Very specialized and not many other uses that I know of. Someone with fabrication skills could make a flat bed hay wagon.
Typically they are broken down for parts and scrapped.
Interesting as you appear to have sides off an m105a3 (3 boards) on your a2? The older ones normally had 4 boards. I did not realize they were interchangeable.

That top appears to be a custom rig maybe unit made in the field. The other m105 that have metal tops are taller and can be moved up and down in the corners. Your rig is pretty unique.
The holes are for the fence sides that slide into those slots and the bows for the canvas top...
