I would recommend flushing the coolant overflow tank and the heater core also. You will find brown mud there also. Easy mod is to add a coolant filter. Check out my thread major zippidy or others as many have done so. Nice truck!

Oops sorry. :-) I did learn that the tank is a great sediment trap since the the hoses are not at the bottom and when I flushed my coolant system, that was the worst place for nasty redish sludge. Unhook the hoses and run a garden hose and I am sure you will probably find some stuff..........

The radiator cap is on the coolant bottle isn't it? It will bleed itself I believe, just make sure to monitor the level in the recovery tank.
