To be fair thought the British Army and the Iraqi republican guard did most of the transport work
Work is hopefully starting next month again and will continue until it gets completed.
I'm planning on keeping it as original as possible except for the swim gear, vane, and wheels. Those are going. Afaik the wheels can propel it in the water. The trim vane is tore up and will need to be blasted and welded/patched.
Arrived home today. I'm happy to report it drove...but has a bad head gasket. Brakes work. It is still very trashed on the inside and needs to get blasted all over with sand and repainted.
Needs new batteries. I'm removing all the swim gear and radios soon. It's simply too hot to work on it...
Its going off for an overhaul/restoration lAter this month. I leave for some active duty time in march for a few months and hopefully by the time I'm done it will be done also. I'll shoot you an email..
I can do that!
Based upon the scarcity of parts it appears I'm going to have to re-use and refurbish a lot of hard to find stuff. Seats will get re-made and fitted with new cushions. US made filters will have to be sourced as the russian ones are unavailable.
The engine takes plain ol' 10-30w...
It needs a fair bit more than that!
Headlights
Tail lights
Turn signals
side view mirrors
Oil/hydro change
Tag/Title/inspect/Insure
Just for starters...
Pics incoming when it gets here on thursday, but here's the low down on what I have and have to do:
Iraqi captured BRDM2 in excellent condition. Pretty much 100% complete.
Clutch is out (needs to be adjusted/resurfaced/replaced)
PTO is stuck in ON, so propeller turns constantly
Brakes are out...
