    Yeah it doesn't take long to disconnect shafts. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

    Even at idle the pump wouldn't spin fast enough. Technically with the transfer in neutral you are disconnecting the link between the transmission and drive line. Personally I would disconnect the shafts at the diffs and just secure them to the frame so you don't have to remove them...
