    MEP 831A Fix-up Thread

Thx for the video and measuring the voltages at the D-E terminals. After studying the video the surge you are experiencing could be triggered by the set failing to throttle down to a no load speed of ~3,050 RPM. You may want to see if there is anything that may be restricting the mechanical...

Can you post a video of the actuator when it's surging? Also if you have a meter measure the DC voltage across terminals D & E on the controller when it's surging. At no load the voltage should be almost 0.0 VDC. Does the DC voltage remain virtually 0.0 or is it bliping up?

Could be the batteries are bad and the 831s charger can't put out enough current to bring the voltage up and run the pump. Another possibility is the charger may not be working. Check the fuse in the control cube. It is in the power feed from the PMA to the charger.

The airflow direction is OUT of the cabinet. As for the wiring it's on the picture you posted. But to clarify it's... 101H18 goes to P14-1. J14-1 goes to the thermostat S21 pin 1. Thermostat S21 pin 2 goes to the fan pin 1. (This is the hot leg being fed by L1 from the inverter.) 102N18 goes...

Colt, I took some mechanical measurement's today on one of my 831's for you to compare your actuator and mechanical governor to. Measurements are shown below as measurement "A" and "B". "A" is the gap between the magnet and the target on the actuator arm as measured at the top of the two...

The 802 one got "smoked" because you applied 24 volts directly across it's terminals. The 802 one needs a current limiting resistor with it. Without it you killed the 802 indicator LED. PM me your email address and I'll send you a version of the TM that has very clear schematics in it. You...

With the set running you should see ~ 28 volts DC across the Hour Meter terminals. Terminal 1 should have ~24-28 volts DC on it when S1 is in the RUN position. Terminal 2 should have 0 volts DC on it with the contactor closed. Terminal 2 should have ~28 volts DC on it with S1 in RUN and the...

Hmmm... Something still isn't right with the adjustments. The rod should never be able to lift itself out of the hole. The rod ball should always be in contact with the black lever when it's running or stopped. Never a gap between them when running or stopped. The ball lifting off the arm...

Didn't know you were missing part of the housing. Looks like you'd need to order a complete housing assembly to get the lens that holds the bulb. Not cheap from DigiKey..$42 https://www.digikey.com/products/en?keywords=800-1030-0337-504 Also on ebay. Search for 800-1030-0337-504

Ahhh... You're looking at the 2010 TM, I was looking at the 2005 TM. You are correct they call out a LED lamp in the 2010 version. The PN 98-19763 cross references to a Dialight PN 586-1102-005F. That bulbs spec are: T1 3/4 base, 28 V, Green, 520 nm Wavelength, 600 mcd brightness Looks like...

The fan is a Rotron part number 031842. They are on ebay for $25. Also available on DigiKey and Allied Electric. The Contactor lamp is an incandescent bulb, not an LED. ** edit, it can be an LED or Incandescent

You won't find that adjustment in the TM. It's factory set and is secured in place with a safety wire and lead seal at the factory. So for a starting point for that adjustment I took measurements of that adjuster on my two 831's. The adjusters height from the plate to the top of the bolts were...

Congrats! The pictures aren't the best resolution so it's a bit hard to make things out. I looks like that one of the mechanical governor adjustment bolts may be missing.
