currently there are 13 sets out there. interestingly, 5 sets went to m37 projects but only 2 are installed. 1 set went to a m715 project, not installed yet. 6 went to m35, but only 4 are installed, 1 uninstalled set is destined for a bobbed m35 in texas, the only one so far. i drive mine often...
i don't see how you could possibly come to that conclusion. the 4 to 5 shift still has the smallest rpm drop of any of the shifts! from 2300 to 1600 for example, is even better than the 2 to 3 shift.

that is a big IF, the answer is maybe. you would still have to change the mainshaft to use needle brngs for 2nd or it WILL fail. you would also have to make spacers to be able to use the civi gears as they are not a direct fit.

quite a bit of diversity going on, of the 8 sets sold, 3 are going in m-37, 1 in a m-715, 2 in a stock deuce, 1 in a deuce with a lds, 1 in a bobbed deuce, and 1 in a deuce with a 8.4 cummins.

even with stock tires, and stock transmission, it is hard to believe there is enough power.
9.00-20 tires would be 1925 rpm at 60. .69od is all the motor can handle, and that is a final ratio of 4.64. you are talking about a final ratio of 3.82, it's not gonna happen.

major update to web page. divided manual into taking it apart and assymbly with pictures. gear blanks have been at forest city for a week now, so soon.
tom
kohburn, you are right, but up to 70 it has enough power. also at lower rpms it is more in the top of the torque curve so i would think that would effectively cancel the wind drag somewhat. i got the best mpg at 55, that must have been the balance point of power versus drag.
tom
i plan to keep parts in stock, but it will depend on demand as to how often i have gears made so there may be short periods of time when they are not ready. as for exchange transmissions, the shipping cost of 250 lbs out and back might make that not work. most likely there will be people around...
finally got the final drawing for approval from forest city gear. should now be only 5 weeks for first 25 sets. anyone interested should reconfirm for first shot at these.
