rjones, i see now that you say A3. many if not most of us still assume A2 so you really have to be clear (as you tried to be). since A3's are direct drive automatics the 4.90 may be a usable choice since that would be the final ratio. it is only a little lower than the final ratio i have now of...- m-35tom

first, the cost of 3 gear sets plus installing them is crazy. who would do that?? second rjones ratios are for an A3. a 4.90 r&p set would improve an A3, but performance in all gears would suffer. here is the info for an A2: stock od and stock rears give final ratio of 5.240 my .69 od kit...- m-35tom

i am curious why you would consider spending twice as much on this as the od kit costs? plus all the extra work and the truck will be severly limited in off road capabilities. tom- m-35tom
