the yokes will be different, the 54 control valve works by moving in and out so you need the correct joint to allow that, plus res, pump, pittman arm and drag link. etc
no problem. but so what if it did, 'hit', i prefer touch, but so what? there are 10,000 times it would be real nice to have power steering and 4 times you may be limited on how hard you can turn to the right! also there are solutions to this such as a custom pitman arm etc.
it is turned to lock on flat ground but even in worst case it would not hit hard enough to be a problem. the wheel choice pretty much dictates clearance. with my custom wheels it clears by about 2 " using 14.5R20XL
a SS member stopped by and we put his 395 on hemmet wheels on to see if there were clearance issues. it looks closer in the pics than it really is, it clears by 1/8" and he had welded in centers so those with bolt on centers will have even more room.
park your truck on dry pavement with 14.5R20 michelins. now get 2 strong guys to MAKE the wheels turn. this is what you will be doing to the steering box. a 40 year old box with a bad seal and low fluid as well perhaps. at what point does the box input shaft just shear off?
yes it works and has...
so you are simply forcing the old original steering box to turn the wheels. something it was never indended to do. at least make it a cylinder assist kit. what is the price for members?

WAS very common, now as hard to find as the 710 although they are out there. i have found 3 places that have the 710 with no core, from $300 to $400 price range. good part is that these are rebuilt units, not used. anyone who finds old IH trucks with the 710 box pls let me know.

whether or not hydro steering is legal is up to your state. even if it may be, can you say 'lawsuit'? if you hurt someone else they will OWN you. do you really feel that lucky?
there is an hydraulic assist, that is what eastern surplus sells for about $900 more than my kit.
the kit from...
good question! if it does it wouldn't be by much and i think it could easily be solved. it would probably not be thecolumn mounting as much as the lower shaft going to the outside of the frame.

i see that boyce now has their price set at $4150. really? eastern surplus has their kit about $1000 more than mine. well now at least you have choices! and another dealer told me recently he would have a kit out by summer. go figure!

yes MSC. they could not get the 1"16 tpi left hand tap i needed. had to buy a used, but like new bottom tap on ebay and drive it to york, pa to have it changed into a plug tap. every place has something but not all.
