Contemplating a Bobber! To do or not to do that is the question!

I know more tall guys that blew out their backs than short fat balding guys. I'd recommend you try that shape as you age. For now you just let us do the heavy lifting. Honestly it just gets worse as you get older so get those bones aligned and keep em' there. Pain management sucks. As for the...

Shaft Sizes G749 Is the part you speak of in the P above the harmonica?.....or the shaft that the P would slide over coming out of the back of the transmission? I thought I could find sizes in the book but let's nail down that part definition first so I know what I'm looking for.

Did you just type that the 5 speed spicer has a plate on the back of the transmission that bolts directly to the U-joint / (propeller) on the TC to trans plate/shaft on the G749? Since you're kinda writing the TM on a swap, are you able to put up years, part numbers and other successful info...

Contemplating a Bobber! To do or not to do that is the question!

Jersey took some decent pics on how he solved the mount problem and I'm thinking there are as many ways to do this as there are people. I'd end up doing it with landscape ties, binder twine and PL400 so I'll keep my opinions on the down-low...

Aye Captain, don't know how kids born in the 80's and 90's are doing it. Sorry to hear that the plans are changing, but they do....then your children turn twenty......money doesn't flow out of the milk carton anymore....and you start again. I'll pasture it for you until you can get back at it...

Used G749 trucks If they ever filled that tank and went off-roading the springs sure had a work out. It's over a thousand gallons and probably weighs a thousand pounds empty. Oh the stories this old truck could tell. It looks like it's 5' high 10' long around 1500 gallons, 15,000 lbs..wow...

That first step replacing something, anything back in to get a little closer to the end is a rush. Nice goin taking that step. Just picture the day you're laying underneath the truck checking linkage travel while soldier B is inside moving the clutch and shifter lever(s) before your first road...

G749 5.9l engine swap Here's an interesting blurb about the 5.9l. """"Currently, the Cummins 5.9L Turbo Diesel is only available in Mexico, as well as for underground mining. Production of the 5.9L Turbo Diesel will end in June 2009.""""""" No hablo Espanol, do you know if your engine is...

G749 motor mounts With the large mounting plate on the block I think it would be easy to fab up some... keep it simple .....mounts. 1/2 inch plate or bigger, 1" Steel Puck for the mount. Fun project.

Military Vehicle Preservation Amen Bear, the modern drive train set-up is a great idea however it's ok for the purist to be disappointed when trucks get chopped. Section 8 will do us proud and will be partially donating any parts and pieces to my "Wild Military Vehicle Preserve" near Edmonton...

Parts You must be having a cow, or was it a bull. At least your truck finally gave birth to a drive-train. C-section.......or a Section8?:) Frontal extraction, head first, tail-shaft last. You pulled a motor with a tractor and didn't post pictures, come on. No puttin' G749 parts in the...

Contemplating a Bobber! To do or not to do that is the question!

Box and Tires I haven't tried to sell the box so if it can be put to use it's one less thing to run into. I'll take some measurements. Depending on what you're doing, a little weight might be good on the back axle....but If you keep it light, a pick-up can pull you out. Oh decisions! The...
