    Hydraulic Conversion of PTO Winch

Just keep in mind that a A3 winch setup won't work with the stock A2 radiator, with the stock mounts (not enough room for the motor underneath the radiator). I guess it would be possible to modify the winch mounts so the winch sits lower to allow for radiator clearance. Another option would be...

    Hydraulic Conversion of PTO Winch

A pump pumps fluid. A motor takes the pressurized fluid from the pump and drives the winch. You could setup toggle switches front and rear but you have to use electric solenoid valves (make sure you get 24v ones).

    Hydraulic Conversion of PTO Winch

As I said in a previous post, a stock A3 winch setup won't work with a stock A2 radiator. Also, A3 parts are kind of scarce and are expensive. If you want a hyd winch, I'd think it would be easier to use the A3 setup as a guide but source all the parts aftermarket. If you have any welding...

    Hydraulic Conversion of PTO Winch

I'm almost 100% sure the A3 motor setup won't fit with the stock radiator. There's not a whole lot of room to spare with the stock driveshaft and the hyd motor is much larger. You should be able to remote mount the motor to the truck frame somehow and use a short driveshaft though. Either that...

    Hydraulic Conversion of PTO Winch

Goose, You could go with a A-frame hoist off the front if you have a winch. Do a search for "A-frame hoist". There are several threads.

    Hydraulic Conversion of PTO Winch

Booger, Hyd winches are much more controllable and therefor safer. They also eliminate the need for a shear pin. If you've ever ran both you'd understand. Hyd winches are smooth running. Personally I'd have used a solenoid valve and had a remote cable so I could also run it outside the truck...

    Hydraulic Conversion of PTO Winch

Yes, the radiator is cut out but I don't think it's cut out enough to fit a hyd motor. I'd be interested in the motor dia. In the pics it looks too big to clear the radiator. That's not saying a hyd winch wouldn't work on a stock A2 though. You'd just need a shaft and mount the motor to the...

    Hydraulic Conversion of PTO Winch

You're not running the stock radiator are you? I know I've looked at this before on my stock A2 and there didn't look like there was enough room to install a A3 hyd motor with the stock radiator.

    Hydraulic Conversion of PTO Winch

I'm kind of with G on this. I'm worried this may damage your motor over time. There's going to be some end play on your winch shaft when switching from forward to reverse. On the shear pin I personally would be comfortable letting the system relief valve do the job. To me one of the advantages...
