I've never seen a engine driven welder that wasn't also a generator. Well there was the old straight DC Pipelinners. They did have outlets but it was DC current. Engine driven welders will do both welding and generating fine. They do tend to be lower generator wattage than a comparable size...

Hobart and Miller are owned by the same people. The Hobart is a Miller without as many "bells and whistles". You can't go wrong with a Hobart. Just stay away from the foreign stuff.
