A tracked vehicle on rocky ground will throw a track in short order. Rausch Creek and tracked vehicles, even if RC staff say okay, isn't a good combination. If this were Haspin or GA rally, where there aren't many rocks, I'd say otherwise. But I really don't think someone with a $100K tracked...
Had a great time again, always a blast at Rausch Creek. The weather was good, we were able to have a campfire this time, and noone's truck got seriously damaged. One gent had to go to the hospital for an injury sustained while wrenching in the parking lot, but after a short hospital visit he...
Packed up for the most part - have to stay around here until 1pm, I have to work at the family farm around noon and get things squared away tractor-wise since I won't be there this weekend to do it. Have to stop in Frederick MD on the way up to pay a bill. Should be there around 5pm or so...
Some folks have brought campers with them for convenience, however I will say this: MV owners tend to be pretty rugged folks. If you can't handle a little cool weather and some very modest sleeping quarters in the back end of your trucks, what are you doing?
I will be coming up a little later...
The LEAST number of people we had at this rally was 5 trucks and 6 guys, but that was the first rally and it was kinda a test run. Since then we regularly get 10-20 trucks and 15-30 people. Big enough for a showing, but small enough to keep it personal.
Less than a week to go!
2 weeks to go, guys!
Anyone showing up on Friday with plans to wheel? Or is everyone who is showing up on Friday coming in late and only plan on wheeling on Sat. and Sun.? We need to plan someone getting there early and roping off our spot with cones and rope...
Ironic thing is, we're the only ones that get filmed extensively by other park-goers when we show up! But yes, we do get twice the blame due to our size, and the Jeepers can't get by us.
shenk,
Because of the race last April, we were only able to do the East side of the road, which costs extra for those driving. Might want to do the west side this time, it has lots more acreage anyways to explore. There are also some green trails that we don't often hit on the West side, some...
Let's see...a good cigar lasts an hour or so. Three hours from where you are to Rausch Creek, that's four cigars! Three for the trip, and one to sell to me when you arrive! :)
LOVE a good cigar!
Sorry, wildchild, but noone wants to see your dad in skimpy clothing. LOL
If noone has a spare chainsaw with them, I'll bring one along, I have a choice of Stihl 20, 25, or 36-inch saws available from the family farm, though I don't think we'll need the big boys for the trees up there...
I really wish we could bring our own fire ring (i.e. tractor rim). Those dinky 14-inch car rim fire rings they have there you can barely get a couple pieces of wood in.
I miss campfires made out of stacks of pallets. :)
Yes we have. First RC rally in fall 2007 formernewMVguy lost his brakes due to a failed wheel cylinder. Took a small welder to get him back up and...um...stopping.
Will be there Friday around noon, stay until late Saturday night or Sunday morning, as usual. No vehicle as of yet, still broke as ****. But can bring some firewood and maybe a boombox with some tunes.
