Glad you're coming along, Tracy. Please follow this thread for more up-to-date info on the rally. I already added your name to the list.

Good news, folks - the T-shirt design is done! I will start a new thread with all the pertinent information, hopefully that thread will be a final "pre-trip" thread that should cover all the final updates, events going on, and who will be going. Will post that tomorrow morning.
Only 1 month...
Just got a call from Gary, a non-Steel Soldier who bought my old winch truck. He said he'll be here for 1 day since he lives closeby. I added him to the list.
So far, 23 drivers and almost an equal number of guests! I am thrilled that so many Steel Soldiers are coming out into the woods...
Bump to top! Make sure you let other friends in the VA/MD/WV/PA areas know that the rally is on-schedule and we are looking good for the event plans. Many thanks to those who have already helped out with mapping routes, organizational support and volunteering for event activities!
Okay, 1917 ! Added you and your wife to the tentative list. Not sure which vehicle you were going to take, so I put down M35A2 or M813 with a ? at the end. The CJ5 would be good too! Course, it would really be interesting if you brought the Nova! :)
RE: Q for MD308
L1A1 - good deal, you can act as cook if you would like to. BTW - thanks for the help on Monday with the trucks! Hope you liked riding in an M35A2.
Adamlee - not sure how to do that. Can anyone help with that request? It would be the area between Rt. 33 west of...
RE: VA Rally
Wasn't sure about that yet. The AO will be a little spread out, but it might make sense to have a base camping area, rather than a different spot both nights. However, that will probably require someone at all times to stay back at the campsite to make sure noone screws with the...
Will do, SW. I'm at my brother's place in MD now, but will call this evening or Sunday.
Many thanks to L1A1 who has taken the time to figure out all the fuel stations in the convoy route that would allow for easy "tanking up" of all gas and diesel vehicles on the way, PLUS he has also mapped...
Well, many thanks go out to Patrick and Matt (L1A1) for taking me out on the trail this past weekend to look at more trails. Found a really nice trail into some campsites that were really nice and tree-covered, but allowed plenty of room to park a dozen or so big vehicles without too much in...
Well, we have a respectable group of folks signed up, that's great! As we get closer to the rally date, we will set up details regarding who is bringing what (campwise) and where we will meet at, etc.
On a more important note, we will need several folks who will act as coordinators for...
I'd agree with Bruce on the cargo cover issue, M215. Most of the area down there has plenty of headroom, but some areas the tree branches come down within deuce level. I plan on taking a deuce without the bows or cargo cover, just the side racks. If you have convoy lights, might be a good...
RE: VA rally 4/4/08
I think the HEMTT would be pushing the limits of what the ranger told me: "Sure, large army trucks are okay." I think 5-tons towing a M105-sized trailer will have to be the limit in this area of the park.
RE: VA rally 4/4/08
Okay, so far looks like we have a good start - we have 7 Steel Soldiers, 7 vehicles, and up to 6 guests. Anyone else care to sign up?
Okay, time to start making arrangement on this end for the Spring 2008 Virginia SS Rally! This rally will be a weekend trail riding event in the scenic mountains just west of Harrisonburg, VA in the George Washington National Forest. Date is set for the first weekend of April 2008, sort of a...
