I am towing my M38C jeep out there. The deuce would've broken my current bank, so to speak, in fuel costs. Guess I'm going to have to speak with Stretch about how he processes his used motor oil while I'm out there!
Be leaving in a few hours, see everyone there!
My plans have changed slightly, due to the fact that I needed some sleep and couldn't do an all-nighter like I used to. I will be leaving between 2-3pm this afternoon, arriving Thursday morning around 6-7am. This will include at least one or two stops at rest areas to get some sleep en route.
Please do.
The next 24 hours for me are going to be hell, packing the last minute stuff, getting laundry done, getting my food/drinks/smokes ready, etc, not to mention the 10 hour ride out there. But I am psyched to go!
Is anyone planning on being a convoy/trip coordinator for this event...
Wow, looks like warm, but not hot, and pretty nice conditions! Excellent!
Thanks for the info on getting inside the place, I am hoping to leave No. VA no later than 10am on Wednesday, that would put me in Haspin around 8pm or so. Looking forward to seeing everyone!
Any ideas when the gates close there? I don't want to arrive 30 minutes after closing and I'm stuck in Small Town Indiana for the night without a hotel room.
Thanks, kip - but I think that's why they are screwed up to begin with!
drmeece - if you can bring it, much appreciated. Love to get everything straightened out so I can mount the bumper.
Cool beans, doghead. Supposed to be nice, high 70s and low 80s whole time. If everything goes according to plan, should be there around 7-8 pm Wednesday night. What time do they shut the date to get in?
Also, is anyone bringing a torch with them to Haspin? The front frame horns on my jeep...
ONE WEEK left to go!
What's the plan for setting up camp? Has it been decided where the Steel Soldiers contingent is going to be parked at, and if not by the pavilion like last time, how will we find where we are at?
I'd check, myself, just to make sure, but the river than goes through town isn't the Mississippi, I doubt it would rise that much. However, if there is at least a good heavy shower before the event, that makes for some quality gumbo to try wheeling through!
builder77 has 105 sides like you wouldn't believe, in Richmond VA. Ask nicely and I'll haul a set from VA to Haspin for you. ;) (PM builder77 for details on the racks)
Looks like plans are slightly changing for me. My daughter's graduation from Kindergarten (yeah, I know it's pointless) is Wednesday, so I do not have time to drive the deuce out there, since it will take at least 1 full day to do that, plus the cost of driving the deuce 1100 mile round trip...
Since the thread for the date selection for the 4th Annual Steel Soldiers Rally at Haspin Acres, Laurel, IN, is getting kinda long, I thought I would start another one to get folks to sign up for the event. Post if you're going, how many folks you are bringing, and the vehicles that you will be...
