Water to air intercooler, Charge air cooler, Aftercooler...

Good to hear. I am also curious of your egt's and what kind of load you carry. Even after cranking up the fuel till I was hitting 1400* (loaded at 23000lbs) and pouring out billows of black smoke, I still never got anything above 12psi. And that's with a "D" turbo. Maybe my boost gauge is leaking?

no update... just moved across county. getting settled in, getting new job, starting college and waiting for the navy to give me my freaking money!

Water to air intercooler, Charge air cooler, Aftercooler...

M16ty, I agree, in itself it wont increase power. It will allow me to turn up the fuel and increase the power. I saw the photos of that 5ton, and what the guy had written. It was interesting to see the results and a partial inspiration for the WTA setup I am thinking of. But the way he had to...

Water to air intercooler, Charge air cooler, Aftercooler...

I agree, but I think the turbos are little small for the engine. I will find out the charge air temp when I can get back to my truck. I hope it does drop it more than 90*! That would be great! waste gates bypass exhaust gas around the turbine, yup I agree. At the same time, if the turbine...

Water to air intercooler, Charge air cooler, Aftercooler...

Rusty, I get what you're saying now. I guess I miss understood. But yes, if the air is cooled, it will lose some of its pressure. Without a wastegate, I dont know if this issue will effect me. I guess I could just turn up the fuel to compensate for the lost boost, and inturn get more air (more...

Water to air intercooler, Charge air cooler, Aftercooler...

Good find Doghead! Thats kind of biased for gasoline engines, but the theory is sound. I think the main thing we can take away from that, is no mater how much cooler we get the intake charge temps, we are going to make an improvement on power. Zack, Ya know, Ive wondered the same thing. I...

Water to air intercooler, Charge air cooler, Aftercooler...

Doghead, I missed your last question. Without knowing what the temp coming out of the turbo is, I cant say for sure how much of a reduction I will see. I predict, without any factual data, that the temp coming from the turbo is in the 250* region. I would estimate the cooler to drop the temps...

Water to air intercooler, Charge air cooler, Aftercooler...

Hank, Exactly what I was thinking! The intercooler kit you show an image of is actually made by a company called www.frozenboost.com they offer several kits, peices and parts to configure the whole set up. These are manufactured in China and sold to practically anyone who wants to buy a large...

Water to air intercooler, Charge air cooler, Aftercooler...

still working on a pic of the front of the truck. the water in to the bilge pump and out of the core go to the radiator. the intake manifold inlet will be modified, I am going to make a plate and weld a 2.5" pipe to it. The hoses from the turbo, core and intake will all be silicone...

Water to air intercooler, Charge air cooler, Aftercooler...

Rusty, there isnt a wastegate on most deuces. I am pretty sure that was the 5tons (LDS)only, unless it was retro fitted. But even then, the wategate operates the exhaust side of the turbo and uses the PSI from the intake side to regulate the amount the wategate is opened. When air is cooled...

Water to air intercooler, Charge air cooler, Aftercooler...

Doghead, I will see if I can draw something up in paint real fast. I am on the mighty USS Abraham Lincoln somewhere in the pacific ocean so I am unsure if I will beable to get the picture to load once I draw it.

I love to tinker. KISS is a brilliant concept, but too simple for me. haha. If I grenade it because I jacked around with it too much, then so be it. I look at it as the engine is a $1000 learning toy. I expect it to blow up one day as the result of something I did. I know its not a civi engine...

Water to air intercooler, Charge air cooler, Aftercooler...

About 3 gallons. It is pumped through a radiator and cooled and returned to the circuit. The same way the coolant on an engine is cooled. The coolant used inside of the aftercooler is almost the same as the engines coolant, well it could be exactly the same mix, just not on the same system. 50%...

Water to air intercooler, Charge air cooler, Aftercooler...

Jones, I agree. Air to air works well when properly set up. But when thinking about the deuce, its going to be a bit of a pain to route all of the tubes and find a place for the intercooler. Thats the main reason for the water to air... was the size of the package. Jwaller, eh, that means I...

Water to air intercooler, Charge air cooler, Aftercooler...

Doghead, I have read another intercooler thread where you said the exact same thing. I do believe some where on here that it has been tested and shown that it was only 3* different than what entered the intake, from the intake temp regulator. But I do agree to an extent. I do think that...

Water to air intercooler, Charge air cooler, Aftercooler...

I am probably going to buy a water to air intercooler and add it to my deuce in the next month. I have some training in sea going and industrial diesels, and they call them after coolers and charge air coolers. Whatever you may call them, I want one! I was looking at civy trucks to see if...
