    LMTV Air Conditioner

I'm trying to get that info now. The person that passed the article on to me is checking and I had specifically asked him about thickness thinking I'd need to make my own.

Here's something to be aware of when adding AC: https://www.nsncenter.com/Library/PSMAG/PS_722?PageNumber=7 I don't think it was the cause of my fan clutch imploding but there was signs of minor contact between the bolts on the back of the fan clutch and the face of the AC pulley.

How'd you get the belt over the fan?

    LMTV Air Conditioner

Chances are that belt hasn't been changed in many years. Rubber deteriorates from age and heat as well as wear and tear. I'm not sure which truck you have but for the CAT 3116 engine they're available on eBay for $11 including shipping so why not do it? Mine looked fine but I changed it...

There is a fair amount of labor involved in putting the pulley on. You have to pull the fan shroud and fan which means disconnecting the intercooler pipes and moving them. My advice is to have the compressor mounted BEFORE you put the pulley on as all that stuff needs to come off just to get...

I believe he was referencing the idler pulley. I had posted very early on that I had one and thought it was for the C7 not the 3116 but, as often is the case, I was wrong.

    LMTV Air Conditioner

Posted earlier that I was mistaken and the pulleys were actually for the 3116 (which is lucky since that's what I needed). I have nothing for a C7.

    LMTV Air Conditioner

And I was correct that we now have air. Like others have mentioned it is not the coolest - running about 65° at the vent with outside temps about 92°. We took it for a test drive and it was comfortable but no where near "cold" or similar to civilian vehicle. Still it beats a non-AC deuce on a...

Shop still couldn't figure it out so I just picked the truck up. They did what I couldn't which is make the hoses and hard line. Now, when the weather is a little cooler in the morning Keith_J and I will use Keith Knight's diagram (which I provided the shop) and get it all sorted out. This...

    LMTV Air Conditioner

AC shop is still putzing around with mine. They can't figure out where to tap in to the 12v and rather than call me for any info they just kept screwing around. The one guy there that seems halfway competent finally called me this afternoon and I forwarded some of Keith Knight's posts on to...

    LMTV Air Conditioner

Hopefully we'll have a standard setup to measure next week. I have a temp probe from when I bought my M1010 and got the AC working in it so should be able to gauge temps right at the vent. I still haven't heard back from the shop yet. I'll head down in the morning to rattle their cage if no...

Same problem we have. No connection from the wiring kit to the dryer. I have mine at the AC shop right now and I believe they're just going to change the switch out.

    LMTV Air Conditioner

Unfortunately down here it's almost a requirement if you want to use your truck in the summer. Heat indexes around San Antonio for the next 10 days are going to be in the 110-115° range. I'm really going to have to insulate the roof also. During the day you can barely touch the roof on the...

R12 was being phased out by the early 90s so doubt they were set up for that. My compressor specifically states it's for R134a.

    LMTV Air Conditioner

Okay after reviewing the schematic in Overdrive's thread (http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?153529-LMTV-FMTV-AC-Air-Conditioner-Compressor-Mounting-Brackets-Install-Write-Up) it looks like this is the correct pulley for the 3116 after all. I couldn't get a very large version of the...

It came in with the pulley pics and I couldn't delete it.

    LMTV Air Conditioner

Yes. Scottmandu has them. From what I could tell in the schematic for the 3116 the pulley is on something that sticks out from the engine like a block or "pier" with the pulley on the very end. This one looks like it just bolts on to the head or something else but more direct to the engine...

Can't help you there. I've got a couple of pulleys for the C7 (which doesn't help me either). I haven't seen a loose one for the 3116. I'm going to see if I can't modify the one I have to work but it's not a direct bolt in.
