    engine alternatives for the deuce?

again, that would be pretty sweet, but you'll need to do a lot of wiring to get them both running. they make stand-alone engine harneses for the d-max yet? they likely do... i think you may also be pretty tight up to the transfer case if you plan on keeping the d-max intercooled. the...

    engine alternatives for the deuce?

not without moving the transfer. you'll also want to switch to 12V - there won't be any point of keeping the 24V as you'll have to run the ECM, FICM, TCM, etc. on 12V. the only thing left on 24V is the lighting, and that's IF you can rebuild the starter to 24V.

    engine alternatives for the deuce?

no, it's not 'made like that' and it isn't so straight-forward: there is some re-drilling of a couple of studs that needs to be done in order to rotate a chunk. also, if you rotate a chunk w/out rotating the housing as well, then you'll be running on the 'back-side' of the pinion gears which...

    engine alternatives for the deuce?

yep. but you may also notice that no one references the 'flow rating' elsewhere in the discussion. this is because it is a theoretical calculation from an unknown injection pump and delivery valve combination running unknown injection event parameters. put the same injectors on two different...

    engine alternatives for the deuce?

any decent injector shop can pop-test. it's not super-rare or anything. pop-testing is just measuring the pressure that the injector seat lifts at, as measured in 'bar'. this is adjustable. and there is no such thing as a 'flow-rated injector' - an injector does not measure fuel for...

    engine alternatives for the deuce?

not quite - you can't run the 8.3 rotating assembly to near the rpm's that you can run the 5.9. do not try this. however, other basic fueling mods from the 5.9 can be applied.

    engine alternatives for the deuce?

    don't know why i couldn't find this the first time... aua L- 44.4" W- 30.9" H- 41.8" Wet weight- 1594 lbs Cummins

    engine alternatives for the deuce?

holy crap, dimensions are about impossible to find. for now, only thing i can find is that it has been repeatedly described as being the same size as the dt466 which is 45L x 34 1/2W x 41H. 6CTA wet weight is 1680+ lbs. i know this is very close to the MF measurements. i'll have to ask...

    engine alternatives for the deuce?

let me look around, but i think it's going to be real close to the MF. at first glance, it sounds like a sweet deal. but, you'll need to keep an eye on the coolant temp if you use the deuce radiator (small), go without an IC or put one outboard of the front grill, and you'll have to move the...

    engine alternatives for the deuce?

it's all in how much you want to deal with. russ81 is swapping in a common rail 5.9 ('03+) into his bobbed deuce. to get the factory ECM to work, you either have to use the factory guage cluster or get a 'recovery' code to crack the ECM in order to allow it to run w/out the factory setup. people...

    engine alternatives for the deuce?

another benefit to getting the bus engines is either the air compressor if it has air brakes or the hydraulic brake system (booster and MC) that would be great for swapping into a deuce. also, the 210 or 230 hp rated p-pump Cummins don't have emissions retard notches on the barrells in the...
  12. mudguppy

    engine alternatives for the deuce?

this is all true stuff. though, it is worth mentioning that the dt466 is a full-size medium duty engine. dimensionally, it's as large as the multifuel, so it would likely be almost a 'bolt-in', physically speaking. however, the dt466 usually uses an intercooler. also, the multifuel radiator will...

    engine alternatives for the deuce?

why 'upgrade' the turbo? do you mean go larger? unless you're going over 300hp, a larger turbo will just take more time to spool than stock. unless you meant something else by 'upgrade'...?

    engine alternatives for the deuce?

apparently you believe that the stock multifuel was some sort of power house. while a cummins is smaller, the minum 6bta power ratings were still 30hp and 100ft-lbs higher than the multi' on a good day. an SAE engine adapter can be used to mate the Cummins to the spicer.
