    I would have thought the quill was OK if I could turn the engine by way of the jackshaft and use that method to align the red index on the gear. Further, I would have thought the quill was OK if I was getting fuel out of the injector lines when cranking. anyoldways ... it is something to check...

    Thanks FLAson ... I gave that a try yesterday. I even tried moving the control assembly back and forth slowly to see if it makes a difference. No change. But I did notice that the control assembly does NOT spring back to the 7:00 O'clock position when cranking. It actually is a little harder...

    It occurs to me that I have had a similar problem about a year ago. I ran out of fuel once about a year ago ... and it took FOREVER to get the truck to start. But once it did ... all was well with the world.
