    I have a 700R4 in my Federal Chevy Suburban . It has a 6.2 diesel and the both are a good match. As far as converters, I would ask, what are you doing ? Towing ? Off Roading ? Or are you looking for max fuel efficiency ? TCI and Perfect Shift make some nice ones for Diesel power. Gas ones...
