The ads were java based. But the internal JS scripting is used heavily on the site. Don't expect much to work here if you turn it off completely. (Reply windows, drop downs, exc.)
I know I've seen it happen now several times on gunbroker. (sorry, yeah, it's gun related, but they use the same ad system) I've been talking to Chris, once he gives me his google account details, I'm going to try to lock down the ad system very tightly on what is shown. Then I'll try to roll...
Nothing was really changed on the site. Just deactivated the google banner ads at the bottom of the page.
Has anyone seen any more of these issues? I've tried playing around more but I can't duplicate it.

I've checked a few other parts of the site. Nothing turned up in them either. (Outside vB) But we've had the google ads off since last night. Please let me know if anyone see anything.
Okay well please grab screen shots if it happens again. I haven't been able to duplicate it. And nothing shows out of place in vB. Google ads allow JavaScript on the site that was mentioned earlier and allows third party advertising.
No, thankfully the only telemarketing calls I get are on my office number and not my cell or anyone else's.

I've disabled the ads on the main page. That's a java script that brings forth content outside the site from google and their advertisers.
I've left the google search option up. But that result screen is all google.

Sounds like spyware/malware on your PC. Virus scan likely will not catch it. Try spybot, adaware, and malware bytes. Make sure to download them all, update them, and scan against your PC. No single AV/Anti spyware or malware software will catch everything.
But just as a safety measure, I just did a file check to the core files for vBulletin. (The forum software) I did not find anything during this check.
