    MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy

Just as a talking point, if any MVs are historically plated, will their insurance cover being 3000+ miles from home, in another country, being operated non-stop for 30 days? My historical coverage is only for 'occasional' trips, not a daily driver... I would also think that being in another...

    MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy

I read the 2009 AAR and while 'over 125 MVs' participated AT LEAST 41 MVs HAD A PROBLEM. There might have been more, since the response was voluntary. So, 41/125 = 33% of the MVs had an issue. Most had more than one, I counted one guy with 5. Go, don't go, just be prepared. Another...

    MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy

Not really. I am pointing out the issues that you need to be aware of. Would you rather know how to stay legal NOW, or when the Mounty is cuffing you becuase you had 'no idea' it was illegal to take a gun to Canada? Do you think ICE is going to give you a mulligan at the boarder becuase you...

Hunting? You expect to export and reimport a firearm? You are leaving the US, and unless there is some special law allowing US citizens to take guns to Canada without a TON of paperwork (Canada doesn't seem to be a very gun friendly country) I'd quadruple check that 'going hunting in canada'...

In Whitehorse the average price PER LITRE of diesel is 1.229. That was the lowest. Most 'average community prices' are 1.30. I'll assume Canadan dollars per liter. Yukon Gas Prices The dollar is trading TODAY at 1:.98 (the Cn Dollar is worth more than a US dollar). 3.7lt per gallon =...

    MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy

That was a nice long post that really went is a bog ole circle. You know what.. if the MVPA did something like, publish 'The Archives' (TACOM papers) they would get some credit from me. But seeing thats a 6+ year boondogle (and I'm sure all the really good stuff has already 'found a home')...

    MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy

Did they release any stats on the other convoy? Like average MPH? Average miles per participant? Driving from PA to CA (done it 3 times) is not bad.. there is civilization along 2/3rd the route. Once up past WA there ain't much of nuttin.

    MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy

Who is this supposed to appeal to? You can't even consider it unless you have a couple grand and a few weeks free time. Who lives on the ALCAN highway to 'join in' along the way? Unless there was an LST waiting in AK for the return you have the same slow, grueling drive back. Drive to AK...
