    Deflate the tires to about 15psi (the pressure for use on sand) and see if the noise changes. I kinda doubt that road noise is going to make a high pitched whine... maybe a dull static sound.. but not high pitched. Tires should be within a a quarter inch of each other in diameter, otherwise...

    Its gear noise. Spur gears are the noisiest type of mesh and proper lube levels will help. But its simply a wear issue. The bearings (or bushings if there are any, I don't know) are worn and allow the gears to vibrate, they travel to the case which amplifies them. Noise is created by...
