AM General M934 How difficult is it to find repairs & how much will they set me back?

Tires will be your biggest concern for the initial trip. The 14.00x20"s that come on the a2's have the most blowouts. If it's Michelin XL, XML tires be very cautious because they are the common blowouts. Older tires with weak sidewalls and many were compromised by sitting for long periods of...

AM General M934 How difficult is it to find repairs & how much will they set me back?

Reference pics of the shelter in the closed/expanded setup. Pics ain't mine, got em from the forum awhile ago when first figuring out how to setup one as a camper. Hopefully pick up a trailer with one of these shelters on it next year.

AM General M934 How difficult is it to find repairs & how much will they set me back?

The NHC250 will take the mindset of a Detroit 2 stroke when revved over 2000rpm, meaning it will suck the fuel tank dry in a heartbeat. Wreckers are rated at the worst expected fuel economy for the 5 tons (3mpg). Driving at 1950-2000rpm my m816 is averaging 6.2-6.5mpg up here in Utah.

AM General M934 How difficult is it to find repairs & how much will they set me back?

Yea can't mount anything to the walls BUT (getting a bit creative) could mount them to the ceiling and floor of the main body on a roller system and move them into the expanded areas. Expanding the shelter might not be necessary though for 1-2 living full time in it comfortably. Depends on each...

AM General M934 How difficult is it to find repairs & how much will they set me back?

Cruising speed on the m939 series is about 50mph, 55mph with the a1, and about 60mph with the a2. The NHC250 engine in the m939 and a1 series likes to cruise at about 1700-2000rpm (cruising speed changed because of the taller tires), above that and it will guzzle the fuel. the 6CTA 8.3 liter in...

AM General M934 How difficult is it to find repairs & how much will they set me back?

I know the feeling haha. My current motorcycle is a BMW F800GS, beautiful bike and easily the most refined one I've ever had. But I prefer the old Kawasaki KLX650 I had before (not KLR, KLX model). It was a 650cc street legal dirtbike that weighed 330 pounds with a headlight, tail light, and 1...

AM General M934 How difficult is it to find repairs & how much will they set me back?

From the military no, the a1's only had the nhc250. Both engines are good and their performance from the military varies depending on what the mechanics did with it (adjusting the fuel). For example there is a part of the highway near me that is somewhat steep going around the point of the...

AM General M934 How difficult is it to find repairs & how much will they set me back?

Kind of a basic breakdown of the different m939 generations: M939: NHC250 engine, auto trans, 11x20" tires. No CTIS M939a1: NHC250 engine, auto trans, 14x20" tires. No CTIS M939a2: 8.3 liter turbo engine, auto trans, 14x20" tires. With CTIS There are other small differences but that's the big...

AM General M934 How difficult is it to find repairs & how much will they set me back?

That is very true. Parted out my old m35a2 and was looking for either a m820 or m934 when the m816 wrecker kinda fell into my lap. Would take a large chunk of change for me to consider selling it now with everything I've done to it haha.

AM General M934 How difficult is it to find repairs & how much will they set me back?

Easy way to upright a tire if you physically are not able to. Use a prybar to raise up one side of the tire a few inches and run a strap under it. Wrap the strap around the tire and use a come along attached to the strap and somewhere on the truck to slowly winch it upright.

AM General M934 How difficult is it to find repairs & how much will they set me back?

With your smaller size it's both a good and a bad thing. Good because it's easier to reach the tight areas and 'bad' because you have to use the mindset of "work smarter not harder" (not really a bad thing honestly). For example with removing/installing the hubs when servicing the axle. The...
